We supply a comprehensive data search service to a variety of users, including: environmental consultants, statutory agencies, landowners and members of the public.
Please note that an 8% price increase will be applied starting from 01 August 2026. This is the first price increase since 2023.
Data Searches are a one-off product intended for short-term use in planning applications, projects etc. and have a lifespan of a maximum of 12 months. For large areas and/or longer term use of our data, a Service Level Agreement is a more cost-effective alternative.
This service typically supplies a standard set of species and sites data, however bespoke outputs can also be arranged.
A standard data search output includes notable/protected species records and statutory and non-statutory sites data. Additional habitat data or shapefile outputs can be requested. We can also produce bespoke outputs. Please contact us for more information.
The standard turn-around time for a data search is 10 working days of receipt of a fully completed Information Request Form (IRF), or confirmation of our quote (where applicable). When resources allow, we can also supply data search outputs on a fast turnaround of 3 working days from confirmation. This faster turnaround comes with a surcharge.
Before requesting a data search, please check if your site is within our area. Also, please ensure that you read our data search guidance notes. If you still have questions, or are not sure what you require from us, please feel free to contact us at to discuss your needs before filling in the form.
For more information about costs please see our charging policy.
When organisations can offer WSBRC data which will be valuable to our work, we can provide an alternative Data Sharing Agreement, often at a reduced cost.
