WSBRC holds data on all species recorded in the county, including protected and notable species. We presently hold over 4 million records in our database.
Records from online recording systems, such as iRecord and Living Record, which can be verified at source, also contribute to our database.
Our data reflects the importance of Wiltshire for species such as farmland birds, moths and chalk grassland flora.
Of the records held, flowering plants represent around 33% of the total. This proportion has decreased in recent years from over 50% which is due in particular to increases in moth, butterfly, bird and mammal records. The approximate breakdown by taxonomic group is represented in the pie chart below.
